Okay I am a host and I usually use Linux because it seems stabler...but what is the difference between all the OS' for servers? Windows, Linux, Unix etc....
Which is best for ASP? And since I see only windows hosting being talked about on here Im assuming ASP can only be used on Windows Servers? |

They are just different operating systems. Windows OS is the best choice for ASP of course (classic ASP only runs on Windows servers). There is a version of ASP (I think from ChiliSoft) that runs on UNIX/Linux server but I haven't heard anything good about it.

Yeah, if you wanted to run ASP, that would have to be on a windows server. I would stay away from other versions of asp run off of difference servers unless you thoroughly check them out first. |

ASP is very similar to PHP in concept, but if you want to use PHP you better use it on Linux and if you want ASP then go for Windows server.

Really depends what you are used to and/or applications you use. I know some succesful sites and businesses that mix the two in a hybrid solution. |
